CREW PHOTOS

Harold Swanson served aboard the Augusta 1941-45 detailed to the V Division. Following the launching of the ship's observation planes during Operation Torch the Augusta came under bombardment from Vichy French warships, at which time Swanson and other crew members assisted in jettisoning Gen. George Patton's Higgins boat so the Augusta's aft battery could return fire.
