1700 Passed Southwest Gate Buoy close aboard to port; entered Dover Strait. 1802 All engines stopped. 1804 British Escorting Force reversed course and proceeded in column down port side. Received and returned passing honors. British ships gave three cheers to the President of the United States. 1810 Passed North Goodwin Buoy close aboard to port. 1811 Received Lieutenant Williams, RN (sea pilot) and Lieutenant Laurens, RN (river pilot). 1827 Passec Dumpton Buoy abeam to port, distance 1800 yards, on course 046 degrees true and pgc. 1830 Changed course to 098 degrees true and pgc, changed speed to 12 knots, began maneuvering to follow swept cross-channel - channel NF route. 1836 Pursuant to Comnaveu dispatch 091708 of July, 1945 H.M.S.
